The Singapore Nuclear Research and Safety Institute (SNRSI) has been established as a full-fledged institute, supported by a $66 million grant under the Research, Innovation & Enterprise plan. Officially launched on July 11, 2025, SNRSI operates from a new facility at the National University of Singapore, aiming to enhance nuclear safety research and expertise. The institute plans to expand its team from 50 to 100 experts by 2030 and will work closely with the National Environment Agency (NEA) and international partners to advance understanding of nuclear technologies. The new building will include advanced laboratories and facilities to facilitate public education on nuclear science and safety. Associate Professor Chung Keng Yeow, the Director of SNRSI, highlighted the importance of this development in enhancing regional collaboration and talent development in nuclear safety research.
